No. Children can join at the section that suits their age without having attended a younger section. Our leaders help new members learn the routines, make friends and try activities at their own pace.
The section team will confirm current subscriptions, payment arrangements and any separate costs for trips, camps or uniform. If cost could make joining difficult, please speak to us privately before deciding against it so we can discuss your circumstances.
Speak to the section team before buying anything. Comfortable clothes and a drink are usually enough for a taster, and the team will tell you if the planned activity needs anything else. Our Resources pages explain uniform, badges and the Promise for each section.
Please tell the section team before your visit about anything that would help your child feel comfortable or take part. We can discuss the meeting routine, any adjustments and how to introduce them to the group. Support arrangements should be agreed with the team for your child.
